Wheel & Come Again !

The Dynamics is a friend story, passionate about jamaican dub & soul and all kinds of good music, they’re coming from United Kingdom, Cameroun, United States, and France ; Stevie Levi, Mounam, Flab Master Flab, Dapper Ray aka Mr Day and Patchworks,  started out around year 2004 as party act, playing groovy covers in their own soulful reggae dub style, nicing up private parties and small clubs, with a simple sound system, live dub fx and three singers.

The very successful debut 7inches features covers from classics “Move On Up” by Curtis Mayfield and White Stripes “Seven Nation Army”, followed by many other singles, all rapidly spread worldwide amongst the DJ’s and reggae soul funk heads. Some reworks and remixes were done for Nicole Willis.

VERSION EXCURSIONS

The first LP « Version Excursions” (over 30.000 copies sold), made of stunning and fresh covers produced by Patchworks (Metropolitan Jazz Affair, Uptown Funk Empire, Mr President, Voilaaa…), was released on Groove Attack and reached a very wide audience way beyond the reggae scene. got loads of worldwide airplays, compilations, playlists supports from many dos by the like of Gilles Peterson, Craig Charles, or Don Letts.

On Tour

Following “Version Excursions” the Dynamics spent many years touring West and East Europe, the Middle East, as well as Japan, firing up stages, including famous international festivals such as Glastonbury & Lovebox (UK), Reggae Sun Ska & Garorock (FR), Fringe Festival, Spraio (IRE), Debaser (SE), Sudwest (PT), Popkomm (DE), Path of Peath (IT) and many more… from small clubs to festival main stages, supporting artists a diverse as Toots and the Maytals, Lee Perry, Snowboy, The Chemical Brothers or Lady Gaga !

180.000 miles & still counting …

During the recording of the second album, released on Big Single / Favorite recordings, two musicians were added to the original live crew ; Nicolas Taite on drum & Raphaël Vallade on bass gave an even more powerfull stage presence, still keeping the initial sound system vibe which makes The Dynamics sound so special and unique . “180 000 Miles & Counting”, the second album was the first release of this line up, featuring other covers, as well as original songs . They’re now touring and currently working on a new album.
